Are you tired of that fat in those areas you just can get rid of with diet and exercise? Dr. Michele Zormeier has experienced excellent results with the use of this procedure for patients who want to eliminate love handles, saddlebags, inner and outer thigh fat, back fat, belly fat, sagging skin, and cellulite with little to no downtime.
Commonly referred to as laser liposuction, this minimally invasive procedure is intended to eliminate excess fat and firm skin to offer a more youthful appearance.
Patients with mild to moderate amounts of excess fat and skin laxity are good candidates as are patients who are 20 percent overweight or less.
Laser-assisted liposuction uses laser energy. Dr. Michele Zormeier directs the laser energy to each area fat is to be removed. The heat of the laser energy causes the fat to melt thereby allowing the excess fat to easily be suctioned out. The fat is suctioned out by thin tubes, called cannulas, that are inserted in the skin by a small incision. While the heat generated during the procedure softens the fat for easy removal, it also stimulates the production of collagen which is the main structural protein found in skin that slows down with age. For this reason, the laser energy not only reduces fat but it also regenerates the skin’s appearance.
The procedure is done in an office setting under local sedation. Patients can expect to experience no pain. Each area to be treated will take about an hour. The length of time for a procedure will depend on the number of areas treated. Patients can expect to notice an improved profile immediately following the procedure in the treated areas with full results noticeable after a week. Bruising is less likely because lasers coagulate small blood vessels but possible. Swelling is to be expected. Dr. Michele Zormeier provides patients with a compression garment following the procedure that is to be worn for a period of approximately six weeks following the procedure.
Patients are back to their normal activities in about two days and can resume exercise after two weeks.
