The procedure is performed in the office. A small amount of liposuction is perfomed on the patient. A portion of the fat tissue extracted is used to isolate the stem cells. For every 1ml of fat, approximately one million stem cells should be available. The fat is processed with special lab equipment ultimately yeilding a stem cell pellet. The lab also processes a small portion of the patient’s blood to obtain a syringe of platelet rich plasma (PRP). The stem cell pellet is mixed with the PRP and fat tissue. The combined elements are reinjected into areas of the patient where volume loss is present.
1. How long does the procedure take?
About 5 hours start to finish. You are comfortable and resting as the processing of the cells takes about 2 hours.
2. How long will I take to heal?
While the full results may be seen around 8 months, we usually ask patients to take a social week to heal.
3. I had a facelift, can I still have this procedure?
4. How will I feel after the procedure?
Most people feel surprisingly very good. The areas from which the fat are harvested will feel a bit sore, as if you worked them out the day before. That mild discomfort should last typically only several days. The face will feel somewhat tight and a bit flushed for several days with only very minimal discomfort if any.
