DAXXIFY®
There are several different injectables available for cosmetic use that qualify as neuromodulators, products that work on the muscular level to smooth expression lines, also known as dynamic wrinkles, on the upper half of the face. While most of these products contain a similar combination of active ingredients, DAXXIFY® is different.
A Peptide-Powered Injectable
This injectable is a peptide-powered treatment, and while it does use botulinum toxin A to smooth frown lines, it’s made with a unique formula that enables it to deliver results that can last longer than the traditional neuromodulators. This injectable uses a peptide as the primary stabilizer in its formula and is free of human and animal by-products.
Upon initial injection, you can expect your results to last anywhere from six to nine months. At the very least, you’ll need two treatments per year to maintain wrinkle-free results year-round.
How It Works
DAXXIFY® injections target the muscles around and above the eyebrows and relaxes those muscles with results that enable the skin to rest, which results in a frown line-free appearance, or significantly softened lines and wrinkles. The active ingredient blocks communication between the brain and the muscles so that they don’t contract in exaggerated expressions and worsen the lines in your skin.
What It Treats
This injectable is specifically designed to treat frown lines. Patients of all ages can experience frown lines between their brows. For some, these lines appear earlier in life due to genetic predisposition, sun damage, or environmental factors. For others, a combination of aging, collagen, hyaluronic acid, elastin loss, and repetitive muscular movements cause the development of these lines between the eyebrows.
While frown lines may look different when they develop on two separate patients, they typically appear as one or two indentations that often resemble the number one or 11. Injections into the area will relax the muscles responsible for the movements that lead to frown lines, allow the skin to rest, and enable you to enjoy smooth, wrinkle-free skin long-term.
What To Expect From the Treatment Process
The DAXXIFY® injection process is similar to other the injection process of anti-aging injectable treatments. We can apply a topical numbing cream to the skin between your eyebrows before administering the product to make sure that you maintain optimal comfort. Then, we will make a series of injections with the right dosage based on your needs and the severity of your frown lines.
Your entire treatment will take minutes to complete, and we can administer other anti-aging injectables at the same time, if necessary, to target additional areas of your face with products like our dermal fillers designed, to treat volume loss.
Your Results
After your treatment, you can expect to see improvements in the appearance of your frown lines within the first one to two days. As the active ingredient relaxes the muscles around the eyebrows, you’ll notice that your frown lines will soften and, in some cases, disappear entirely.
You can expect to see results within one to two days of your treatment, and they will continue to improve as your skin responds to the treatment and no longer has to contract repetitively. Our goal is to inject the necessary amount of product for your particular concerns so that you maintain a natural-looking appearance, albeit a younger and well-rested one.
How Long Will My Results Last?
Unlike other cosmetic injectables that use the active ingredient botulinum toxin A to smooth expression lines, this injectable delivers results that last much longer. You can expect your anti-aging results to last anywhere from six to nine months.
The total length of your results depends on how quickly your body metabolizes the product. As your body metabolizes the product, you’ll regain your ability to make exaggerated expressions like frowning, eyebrow furrowing, and squinting. As you do, you’ll notice that those frown lines will reappear, and at this point, you can schedule a follow-up treatment at one of our Northern California area offices to maintain your smoother and younger-looking skin.
Who Is a Candidate?
Some patients will not qualify for treatment, including pregnant and nursing women, patients who are allergic to any of the ingredients in the injectable, and those who have a skin infection at the planned injection site. An initial consultation at one of our NorCal area offices is the best way to learn more about this treatment and determine your treatment eligibility.
During your consultation at one of our Northern CA area offices, we’ll answer any questions you have about the treatment, process, or product, evaluate your treatment area, and ask you some questions about your medical history and any past experience with neuromodulators like Botox or Dysport. If for any reason, this treatment is not the right option for you, we also offer treatments with Botox and Dysport to treat expression lines, two products that may better suit your needs.
