Celebs Who’ve Rocked Subtle Fillers (and Didn’t Overdo It)

Celebs Who’ve Rocked Subtle Fillers (and Didn’t Overdo It)

Celebrities and everyday folk alike have come a long way since the not-so-subtle “duck lips” era of the early 2010s. And really, you can’t blame us for being a bit over the top at first – the Kardashians, social media, and the selfie are definitely due their share of credit.

Now, we’ve entered a much more refined, even “demure” (old reference already?) phase in terms of popular beauty trends. Though facial fillers continue to rise in popularity alongside other cosmetic treatments, head-turning socialites, soccer moms, and a growing male quotient are now aiming for more natural-looking, subtle enhancements.

Especially when it comes to celebrities, people still prefer to stay mum regarding their choice to have lip fillers and other cosmetic procedures. Before we launch into our list of celebrities who have mastered the subtle use of fillers, then, a big disclaimer: many of these instances of filler use are suspected, not confirmed.

With that said, let’s take a tour through some of the most successful uses of celebrity filler treatments we’ve noticed.

Emily Ratajkowski

A walking case study of the power of subtle filler use (if she has in fact had them done), Emily Ratajkowski’s picture has surely been floated across the table to an injector or two.

“That’s what I’m looking for.”

She has full, perfectly symmetrical lips that harmonize seamlessly with her bone structure, a contoured but not overly aggressive jawline, and incredibly smooth skin all-around. No bumps, no duck-lips, and no “wooden” appearance.

If we had to guess, Ratajkowski has had very small amounts of hyaluronic acid filler to perfectly enhance her features while still maintaining facial proportionality and balance. Obviously, she brings a preternatural beauty to the table (literally speaking), and wisely, she has chosen to take a very gentle approach to anti-aging treatments.

Margot Robbie

This Aussie starlet of no small acclaim is breezing through her mid-30s as we speak with incredible grace and style, thanks to what appears to be a perfectly restrained approach to fillers and other cosmetic treatments.

No doubt, Robbie brings a stellar template to the treatment table, with a classically beautiful bone structure, radiant skin, and the kind of smile that could stop (or start) a war. Over the past several years, her hardcore fans have noticed very subtle, but still noticeable changes in her appearance.

For example, when starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in “Wolf of Wall Street,” which was 2013, Robbie’s lips seemed slightly thinner than they are now. If they have been touched up, which we believe to be true, it has been with such a graceful hand, that the improvement seems more like that of a person who has been getting better sleep or standing in better lighting. Excellent work, whoever you are.

Rachel McAdams

A ripe 46 years of age with barely anything to show for it, Rachel McAdams has almost certainly mastered the art of subtle filler use.

The Canadian movie star who tugged at the heartstrings of both men (admit it) and women with “The Notebook” in 2004 doesn’t look exactly the same as her 20-year-younger self, but she’s very close.

“Freezing” the appearance as you age shouldn’t be the motivation behind filler use in the first place. As Rachel McAdams tastefully demonstrates, it’s about mitigating signs of aging while still allowing the face to change and mature over time.

Zendaya

It isn’t sheer aesthetics alone that define Zendaya’s infectious appeal among women young and old, but in addition to her unflappable charisma and charm, it certainly doesn’t hurt that she’s a natural beauty.

Yes, she’s only 28 as of this writing, but this is exactly around the time the body’s natural collagen production begins to decrease, manifesting in mild skin laxity, fine lines, and other early signs of aging.

Even for being as young as she is, her well-contoured cheeks and hydrated, but not overdone lips give the slightest hint that she may have had some subtle work done in terms of fillers. At this age, it’s all about gentle contouring and volumizing for preventive purposes, and she’s nailing it.

Hailey Bieber

Somehow minimalist and exotic-looking at the same time, Hailey Bieber mystifies onlookers with her dewy skin and perfectly plumped lips. Given her age (28, like Zendaya), genetics and makeup magic may in fact be the only factors in play.

However, vigilant social media sleuths point to a recent dividing line in Bieber’s photo history, claiming she may have had some very subtle work done at that time.

It’s a win-win for Bieber. Either she hasn’t used any lip or jawline fillers at all, meaning she’s that genetically blessed, or she has, and is fooling most into believing she’s that genetically blessed.

Gal Gadot

Mythical protagonist or scheming villain, Gal Gadot seems incapable of being portrayed in an unfavorable light, aesthetically speaking.

She has well-defined, but soft cheeks, pristine under-eye areas, and beautifully contoured lips. Both static and in motion, her expressions look completely natural.

Even though Gadot is obviously a natural beauty, given her age (40 as of this writing), we are fairly confident she has undergone some subtle filler work. Gadot exemplifies the idea of simply maintaining your beauty—not trying to make drastic changes that interfere with your natural facial harmony.

Key Takeaways for the Rest of Us

You don’t have to be a famous movie star or musician with millions of dollars and twice as many adoring fans to benefit from the subtle use of fillers.

It’s tempting to think of our aesthetic goals as “fixing” things, but these women demonstrate the power of enhancing and preserving your natural beauty over trying to achieve an entirely new look.
