Lines and wrinkles become more defined over the years due to the natural aging process. This can cause your complexion to appear aged and tired. However, a loss of fat is also one of the main causes of aging flaws. As fat decreases within areas of the cheeks, skin can begin to sag and droop. If you are searching for an effective and lasting solution for reclaiming a youthful facial contour, a facial fat transfer could be the solution for you!
What is a Facial Fat Transfer?
A facial fat transfer is a personalized treatment that utilizes the patient’s own fat to store volume and improve facial shape. Fat is first collected from a donor site that has an accumulation of excess fatty tissue, such as the stomach or thighs. It is then carefully and strategically delivered beneath the surface of skin that is experiencing fat loss. This effectively restores a supple and contoured facial shape.
What to Expect
A facial fat transfer procedure is performed in office. Following an initial consultation with Dr. Michele Zormeier, a personalized treatment plan is created for you and your specific skin needs. During treatment, a small amount of liposuction is first performed on the patient. A portion of the fat tissue is extracted for the isolation of cellular membranes. For every 1ml of fat, approximately one million cells should be available. The fat is then processed using specialized equipment that works to create a cellular pellet.
Results offer supple and younger-looking skin with an improved, youthful facial contour.
FAQs
- How long does the procedure take?
The entire process takes about 5 hours start to finish. You are comfortable and resting as the processing of the cells takes about 2 hours.
- How long will I take to heal?
While the full results may be seen around 8 months, we usually ask patients to take a social week to heal.
- I had a facelift, can I still have this procedure?
Absolutely.
- How will I feel after the procedure?
Most people feel surprisingly very good. The areas from which the fat are harvested will feel a bit sore, as if you worked them out the day before. That mild discomfort should only last a few days.
